Floating Prayer

-->
At a recent meeting with John DeVries, founder of Mission India, he introduced us to another form of listening prayer which he has called “floating prayer.”  He explained that “a verse of Scripture is like a rubber raft.  If you learn how to float on it throughout the day, you’ll have a new experience of joy and peace and amazing power.  Floating is ‘getting on’ a verse of Scripture before you get out of bed in the morning by reciting it a few times and fixing it in your mind for the day.  Throughout the day you look at all the events in the light of that verse and listen as Jesus speaks to you.”

The Journey

-->

The Christian Life is a journey with Jesus.  It is preceded by the journeys from Eden, Ur, Egypt, Babylon, and the tomb.  The journey is about being blessed so that we might be a blessing, being loved so that we might love.  There are people who touch our lives along the way, even as we influence the lives of others.  We are called to be “followers of The Way”, as were the early Christians.  On our life journey, as we “go about our way,” we are called to “be disciples, who make disciples.”  The following quote has encouraged me on my journey with Jesus.

“My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am
following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you.
And I hope that I have that desire in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road,
though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore I will trust you always
though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for you are ever with me
and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.”

A New Day

This is the beginning of a new day.  You have been given this day to use as you will.  You can waste it or use it for good.  What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it.  When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind ..... let it be something good.                                                                       (author unknown)

The End Of The Road Is But A Bend In The Road

-->
We have all been there, when life comes crashing in on us and feels more like an ending.
Where do we turn for help?  I have found the following poem to be very comforting.
Jesus promise, "I will be with you always" is mirrored here.

When we feel we have nothing left to give and we are sure that the "song has ended"
When our day seems over and the shadows fall and the darkness of night has descended
Where do we go to find the strength to keep on trying?
Where can we find the hand that will dry the tears that the heart is crying?
There's but one place to go -- and that is to God and, dropping all pretense and pride
We can pour out our problems without restraint and gain strength with Him at our side
And together we stand at life's crossroads and view what we think is the end
But God has a much bigger vision and He tells us it's ONLY A BEND
For the road goes on and is smoother, and the "pause in the song" is a "rest"
And the part that's unsung and unfinished is the sweetest and richest and best
So rest and relax and grow stronger, LET GO  and LET GOD share your load
Your work is not finished ended, you've just come to a "BEND IN THE ROAD."
